It’s Saturday night, and well I’m in bed. Been here an hour or so….Matt and I are having a slumber party…..Disney Channel, Special K chips, Fruit Snacks, Oreos, and milk. As much as I wish I were at the lake, on a beach, or at the benefit concert in Norman I am really enjoying my quality time with Matt. TJ has been rodeoing in Canadian, TX since early Thursday morning, and when he comes back I’ll return to chopped liver.
MAMA MISSES HIM….AND SO DO THE KIDDOS! We will see him after church tomorrow, thank goodness.
I have several posts in the works, updated kitchen cabinets, newly painted exterior trim and shutter, and 4th of July.
Speaking of 4th of July, I feel like once it has passed summer flies by. I love summer for so many reasons….a lot of time with my kids, time to re-energize for the next school year, my tan, cookouts, family time, and well watching mindless-uneducational tv shows. I know, I watch a lot of that “crap”…. That is, when Disney or RFD (ugh, that channel can be dreadful!) is not on! On the other hand, summer reminds me that I am not stay at home mom material, TJ is super busy, and I feel like my to-do project list is impossible…dang you Pinterest!
So in my free time today, well actually during my run this morning (btw, I crushed 2.65 in 24:00, 9:08 mile….that’s speedy for this gal!) I have pretty much decided to run the Route 66 half-marathon in Tulsa, in November. I love good challenge, and its on my mental bucket list.
Enough ramblings and here are a few pics from today.
I love summer. Summer, summer, summer. There are so many things I love about summer…..playing with my kiddos, lazy days by the pool, staying outside until 9, fresh veggies from my garden, free time, cookouts, lunch dates with friends, and evening drives with my family! Last night was one of the “perfect” summer nights, not to mention Danielle Bradberry won The Voice! I know I got a little invested into this season, I would have been so disappointed had she not won.
Before we watched The Voice, we went out and checked the cows and filled up mineral feeders. As you can see, T and Matt emptied a lot of water out of them. We have had a lot of rain.
Speaking of rain, this pond is nice and full.
Matt likes to holler at the cows….and they run.
This was tough work for sis, she crashed.
Matt knows how to work the gear shift…..I think he’ll be hauling his own cattle in a couple years….
No pics of me….I just ride in the truck and look pretty, well try to.
After we got home, I picked our first veggies of the summer!
Have a great day!
Saturday, we worked an auction. TJ was the auction manager, as well as auctioneer, and I clerked.
The auction business runs deep in TJ’s blood. TJ sold his first item at auction, when he was 11 years old. His grandpa Wayne ran an auction business in Perry, for 50 some years and his dad Matt was an auctioneer, as well. Now that both TJ’s dad and grandpa have passed, he is keeping the business and tradition alive.
I knew when I met TJ, that he was an auctioneer, but little did I know how good he was. I enjoy being asked at every auction, “are you TJ’s wife? Man, he’s good”, or something to that same tune. After TJ and I got married, I got thrown into the mix (gladly), and we started working on getting our real estate licenses. We both hold an active Oklahoma sales associate license, and continue to grow our business.
Anyways, about today’s auction, I clerked it……but I also shopped and stole some major deals!! Considering I am a Pinterest junkie…..auctions are a gold-mine for finding furniture and supplies to complete all of those projects…not to mention, some sweet decor! (Disclaimer: I’m not crafty, and I usually mess up anything I paint!)
These first three photos are of TJ doing what he does best….well, maybe besides being a cowboy!
This chair was my favorite buy. I am putting it in our mudroom for now. TJ will use it to put his boots on.
And another chair, not sure where it will find a home, or if it will even stay that color.
These next two pics are rather lame, but I was trying to unroll the Buffalo Bill’s Wild West poster. (Matt would rather not wear clothes, major perk of living in the middle of nowhere.
I am super excited about this high-chair!
This table and chairs, I have BIG plans for. I plan to paint it fun colors and put it in my classroom! I scored both the table and chairs for $11!!! Oh, and we bought the saw horses too, I have some shutters to paint.
A magazine rack…definitely needs some TLC.
Lastly, this desk. I plan to put it in the kids room.
Hopefully, I will get around to re-doing these items soon and I will post before and afters.
Have a fantastic week!
This post just reminds me how blessed I really am, but also gets me a little teary eyed at the same time.
This guy right here…..he’s ours and we love him and can’t thank him enough for all that he does. I know Matt idolizes him, and I am sure Annie will too! Happy Father’s Day T!
And this is Papa Tim…he’s a goof ball, but has always been my biggest fan. Papa Tim loves the kiddos a lot…..he antagonizes them…that’s how I know. Thanks Pops for everything…Happy Father’s Day Papa Tim!
And this is Papa Garry…..he’s a gem and TJ’s best friend. They don’t get more helpful than this guy right here. I think he could sit and hold Annie and play with Matt for hours……Happy Father’s Day Papa Garry!
This is my Grandad, his name is Bob. He’s a Texas A&M grad, and knowledgable about so many things. He always had a wise lesson for us when we were younger. He has alzheimer’s now and it breaks my heart. Happy Father’s Day Grandad!
My other grandpa is Orville Hight, my dad’s dad. I don’t have a picture of him, he passed before I was born. I sure would have liked to meet the guy from where I get most of my orneriness! Happy Father’s Day Papa Orville!
This is Matt Casteel. This is TJ’s dad. I sure would liked to have met him too. He would be so proud of his son. I know T sure loved him….Happy Father’s Day Papa Matt!
Grandpa Wayne Casteel recently passed. Auctions just aren’t the same and we miss him. He truly was one of a kind, and was so proud of the auctioneer TJ has become. Happy Father’s Day Grandpa Wayne!
Uncle B – my brother, what a wonderful dad he is! Happy Father’s Day Uncle B!
Hope everyone has a great day!
Tomorrow, I’ll show off my auction finds!!
I’m finding my way around the blog-o-sphere and ran across this site….I’m going to use this as my primary RSS feed, since Google Reader is no longer available!
I have to post this link below so I can claim my blog!

Where to begin? I’ve always wanted a blog, but I was not sure what to write about. I’ve done a lot of searching and I am still researching the best practices for branding my blog. Some tips suggest to write about one thing, or one topic. Others suggest to write about things in which you are passionate about. So, I am going with my heart here and I am going to write about my blessed, but fun and crazy life at home, as well as teaching.
My crazy life at home consists of wrangling a 2.5 year old boy, Matt & a 4 month old girl, Annie. And how could I forget my hubby, TJ (he’s a mess too). We live in an old farm house that was built in 1908, so tune in for the constant re-model and upgrading. I also enjoy cooking, gardening, sports, and attempting to learn the cowboy/cowgirl way of life (haha, not really, I just get thrown in the mix).
I teach middle school math, Yearbook, and two computer classes. I am always searching for new ways to incorporate new technologies into my lesson plans. In math this year, I hope to start an Interactive Notebook and blog all about it!
So please check out my about page, follow my blog, and check back soon!
